The social event will be on September 19th, 2018.

The departure by bus will be at 13:30 from IRISA. The social event includes the visit of Mont-Saint-Michel, a rocky tidal Island located in Normandy. The Mont Saint-Michel raises itself in the heart of an immense bay invaded by most spring tides of Europe. Registered on the “World heritage” by Unesco in 1979, this tourist top-place receives more than three million visitors a year. During the visit, you will discover the Main Street with its shops and its houses dating back to the 15th and the 16th centuries. You will visit the abbey that offers a full outlook of the medieval architecture from the 11th to the 16th century. By descending the road of ramparts, you can contemplate the incomparable beauty of the Bay.

After the guided tour of the abbey at the top of Mont-Saint-Michel, Cryptacus’ participants will have free time to visit the place by themselves.

After the visit of Mont-Saint-Michel, a dinner will take place in the city of Cancale, in front of the sea. Cancale, a fishing harbour renowned for its first-class oysters and for its fishermen, who braved the Atlantic to fish off Newfoundland aboard bisquines, local trawlers.

The bus will be back to IRISA around 23:00. It will then stop at the hotel “Campanile Rennes Centre Gare” and at “Republique” (Rennes’ downtown).
